MONICA'S PLACE

November is National Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the nation's largest animal protection organization, and a powerful mainstream voice for animals—all animals. The HSUS confronts cruelty on many fronts, from the scourge of animal fighting to assaults against marine mammals and other wildlife and their habitats. The society works to protect animals from becoming victims of disaster, and provides rescue and relief if they do fall victim. The HSUS provides free wellness and spay/neuter services to native nations through its Rural Area Veterinary Services. It has active programs to protect wildlife, animals in research, horses, farm animals, and companion animals.

In addition to addressing issues of cruelty and abuse, the HSUS also celebrates animals and our relationships with them. A signature program of the HSUS is Pets for Life, designed to give pet owners the tools they need to choose the right pet for them, and to keep their pets as happy, healthy members of their families, for a lifetime. By keeping the bonds between pets and their people strong and vibrant, fewer animals will be displaced, and fewer animals will be given up to shelters.

The Humane Society of the United States is a nonprofit charity based in Washington, D.C., with field representatives and offices across the country. The HSUS works through education, investigation, litigation, legislation, advocacy and field work to protect animals.
